MORPH SELF-PORTRAITS
4TH-GRADE
Overview: The goal of this lesson was to repurpose the aluminum food container as a canvas to paint self-portraits. First, students used charcoal sticks to sketch their self-portraits while looking at themselves in the mirror. Afterwards, students painted their self-portrait on the on the surface of aluminium food container that had bends, curves, and indentations.

Overview: The lesson concept was to create a self-portrait, with exaggerated facial features, by using mixed media to draw and paint on recyclable plastic to-go food container as a canvas. Student were introduce artwowrks by artists such as Columbian painter Fernando Botero, Italian-Jewish painter Amedeo Modigliani, Egyptian art, Javanese art, and caricatures pictures used exaggeration in their artwork.

LEGOFY RELIEF CREATURES
2ND-3RD GRADE
Overview: Students learned about Dutch artist Enno de Kroon who uses recyclable and biodegradable egg cartons as his canvas to create works of art.
Students learned the ingredients of puffy paint (non-toxic India ink, food coloring, flour, and salt) are also biodegradable. Then painted with puffy painted on recyclable paper cartons to create facial characteristics of inspired by creatures.

Overview: Students learned to draw and paint a self-portrait on a paper carton with an uneven, protruding surface that emphasizes facial characteristics.
Students also learned about recycle art and discuss its environmental impact.
